Maralah Cliff House
The name translates to "person who was born during an earthquake" and we can see why. The Maralah is a cabin crafted into the side of a hill Calgary, Canada that is meant to help get its inhabitants away from the city. Overlooking the Bow river, this small getaway is 45 square meters and constructed entirely from matte black steel, glass and raw concrete. The architects incorporated the local surroundings and elements into their design - for example, the bedroom is tucked under the reading area and kitchen and sits next to raw exposed limestone. The roof tucks partially under the ground and helps the home blend even further into the cliffs side. All in all this is the perfect isolated cabin for those looking to take a breath from the busyness of the modern world.
